I have read posts in the right margin and blogazines, and clicked on the referals at the bottom but know there is a ton more material. I may not have a mule but being mule-headed, I plan on homesteading on my own. So far so good. And it feels really good to be moving closer to self-sufficiency.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16005809852047850030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-45691367917350397462014-05-06T18:45:34.825-04:002014-05-06T18:45:34.825-04:00I don't know for sure how this

I note also the time
period, that is after the bank of
last resort AKA the Federal
Reserve was founded thus allowing
for easier credit to the larger
bankers first financing the
companies who made the equipment
and then the farmer who purchased
the equipment. I believe that
people will look for easier,
better, more cleaver was of
performing tasks and therefore
improvements will continue. The
speed of these improvements
however loses the need of
necessity when money i.e. credit
is made more available. All that
is left is to convince the farmer
that his doing it the 'same old
way' is a thing of the past.
Convince enough farmers of this
and you quickly get to the point
of trying to compete with
everyone else that has already
jumped on to ride the wave of the
future. The only mechanism I can
image to reintegrate absolute
necessity for the selling point of
convenience is to re-establish
the concept of purchasing what you
need with the funds that you
already possess.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-75344642657220861402012-05-14T18:14:53.113-04:002012-05-14T18:14:53.113-04:00BeStill,

I'll be using Webb's conclusion to both challenge and organize new younger farmers at a conference we're hosting on February 29th as part of a Food Council initiative. Hopefully, the "rugged individualism" in the new generation can be focused into a more unified voice for this new machine we are driving. I'll be contacting you soon for a couple Whizbang Shebangs that will go into our Small Producers Equipment Cooperative for community food production projects - Tucson, AZJaimehttp://www.rezonationfarm.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-63878182229997453062011-11-14T00:59:20.985-05:002011-11-14T00:59:20.985-05:00Beautiful and sad post. The moment you try to slow it down just to breathe, it forces it's technique upon you just because of rivalry, competition and ultimately because of war. Yet technology, like all human things, is not always good. We have developed a technique for living sad alienated and shackled lives, when once we had peace, nourishment and the enjoyment of our labor.Benjaminnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-40423835019980250912011-08-12T11:55:55.221-04:002011-08-12T11:55:55.221-04:00Great excerpt! I agree with all of Mr. Webb's thesis as stated here. How is it that we always look at technology and industry as saving time and money. I work in an IT department, and like you dream of coming home (I'm working on a several small business concepts now). And being in IT I know that although "headcount" (aka men and women with families and children) is reduced due to technology, the manpower required to keep a business network running is astounding. In addition to the increased IT headcount, most IT folks can work from home as needed and thus the workday, even the work week, is dramatically prolonged. I cannot see how this lifestyle is more efficient or effective. Rather, our submission to the master of "progress" is destroying the very moral fiber spelled out in the Scripture; namely our call to live in community with one another. Thanks for the post...and the tip on the book.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14239352325133562116noreply@blogger.com
