Hello Dear Readers,

I'm not blogging much these days. Life is just too busy.

But I am keeping the strawberries picked, and we are certainly enjoying them, even if they are a bit on the small side this year.

I hope everyone's summer is off to a great start.

If you haven't yet entered Planet Whizbang Giveaway #3, please go check it out.

TTFN,

Herrick

Perhaps too busy a summer; at least with so many visitors coming! Living on a mountain can be pretty tiring; going up and down to the orchard/garden/hens. However, at least it is not artificial exercise. I insist on not using the quad to get where I want. I haul in my bucket my gloves, tools, etc. Have nearly all 30+ fruit/nut trees each surrounded by its own protective wire fence, and most three-foot weeds down from around the ones about to produce: plum, & nectarine. Saw bear and deer evidence in the dust this morning. Yeh, they are scouting for fresh fruit. Any critters threatening your neck of the woods, Herrick? Thanks for your mini-blogs!

Well, I wanted to make a comment about the "Canned Goods" song by Greg Brown (?), and wanted to make it on your blog...Thanks so much for that touching song. It's almost like my theme song for your blog, Herrick. The song and this blog mean a lot to me. I feel like I'm part of a family, so many names of people who comment have become familiar to me, and precious, as you and your family have become to me as well. That's what that song churned up in me, gratefulness, the good life, relationships!!!

  3. Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for the comments. You are certainly a welcome part of the family of readers who come to this blog. And, beyond that, you and I have a spiritual kinship, which I am thankful for. :-)

Those who may not know what Elizabeth is talking about with the "Canned Goods" song need to check out my "Whizbang Gardening" Facebook page. I posted there recently with a link to Greg Brown's delightful song. The reason I happened to mention the song was because I was watching (and listening) it on YouTube one evening and at 38 seconds into the film, there is a picture of my potato harvest in my basement. The picture was originally posted on this blog years ago. And there it was. Here's a link so you can watch it for yourself: Canned Goods by Greg Brown on YouTube

P.S. Watch out for those bears, Elizabeth!
