From the flavor of your writing, I gather that you have been experiencing a time of greater spiritual intimacy with the Lord during your period of "hibernation." We've been doing some pruning of sorts ourselves....butchered our first guinea the other day. Not quite a hack job, though, thanks to John and Lisa Mesko's wonderful DVD on butchering chickens. I'll be posting a detailed description of our adventure on my blog this week. Looking forward to hearing more about your newest book! God's blessings to you and the family!Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02224478477510925985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-31466595840975143912007-04-03T13:21:00.000-04:002007-04-03T13:21:00.000-04:00Welcome Back Herrick!!!Welcome Back Herrick!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-71716883536733449162007-04-02T18:03:00.000-04:002007-04-02T18:03:00.000-04:00Correction: I meant to write "Authentic Agricultur...Correction:

I meant to write "Authentic Agriculture™" not "Authentic Agrarianism™" as I did in the the above post.

I guess, in my mind, they go together. :-)Herrick Kimballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116051416696885647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-9267063560882945532007-04-02T17:54:00.000-04:002007-04-02T17:54:00.000-04:00tnfarmgirl,Thanks!Terry,The older I get, and the m...tnfarmgirl,
Thanks!

Terry,
The older I get, and the more I understand, the more amazed I am at how God orchestrates the times and seasons of human lives and earthly events for His good purposes.

I'm glad you are now able to work form home and I'm excited for you and your family as you look for land, seeking to live a simpler, God-honoring lifestyle within an agrarian setting. I believe you are doing this for all the right reasons and that you and your generations will be blessed as a result.

patti,
I've done my share of random hacking. That's par for the course when you're trying to figure out how to properly prune anything.

As for your criticism of the trademarking of Authentic Agrarianism™, I couldn't disagree more.

I support John Mesko and his idea 100%. He has created the term and is defining it, and I think it is a brilliant concept. If he wants to "package" it with various features and benefits and make it available to people for a fee, I see nothing wrong with that. Fact is, I see everything right with it.

I see great value in developing a term and a concept like Authentic Agriculture™ to define a way of life and a kind of food. We who are involved in creating this kind of food (even on a small scale, like I do with my garlic) need a term with substance now that "organic" has ben taken by government and is practically meaningless. A small fee to support an alternative with substance is not an unreasonable expectation. I applaud the ingenuity, creativity, and entrepreneurship that the Mesko family is showing, and I wish them well with all their projects, including Authentic Agriculture™.

Hmmm....this subject has me thinking of a future blog subject....Herrick Kimballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116051416696885647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-57975362394436689022007-04-01T21:23:00.000-04:002007-04-01T21:23:00.000-04:00It's good to have you back Herrick! Over Easter we are going out to visit family in western PA and hopefully find out about any land we can check out. Right now seems that everything is falling into place: my job allowing me to work remotely, getting projects done at our house making it easier to sell. Only thing that is missing is a place to move to. I sure do look forward to starting the next chapter of our life. All in the Lord's time.

Terrytchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10091442160590548810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-45707145478065985992007-04-01T08:09:00.000-04:002007-04-01T08:09:00.000-04:00Welcome back Herrick!
