We used it for processing about 1,000 birds this year and it worked great! We mounted it to a piece of plywood so it didn't slide around on the concrete and I'm going to make a small 6-12" hose that I can leave permanently attached to it. We had to unscrew the infeed hose after each processing and it was a bit of a tight space to get my fingers in there to make the connection tight. But I figure if a short piece of hose with male and female ends was left on there all the time, it would make assembly and disassembly a snap. Thanks so much!Mikehttp://www.terrafarmers.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-16475773515843175972014-11-20T20:26:03.622-05:002014-11-20T20:26:03.622-05:00Muns,

The only flaw I've noticed, and it wasn't a big deal, was the fact that the silicone adhesive holding the tapper valve into the plastic plate quickly let loose. You fit the valve well enough that the adhesive was really not necessary. Thanks for your continued observations and innovations.

ScottScott in PAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12711953495019119287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-53217582868480147102014-11-17T14:17:00.619-05:002014-11-17T14:17:00.619-05:00Reading your latest post where you mention the ene...Reading your latest post where you mention the energy drink made me think that you might be interested in kombucha tea: http://www.kombu.de/testimon.htm. My husband and I have been searching for child-sized tools so the kids can help out on our homestead. Our older boy really wants to, but is very small for his age and has problems handling adult sized tools. That barrow would be perfect for him to help with hauling wood or mucking out pens, garden beds etc. Please post updates if you decide to tackle that project. I know a lot of families with young children who would love to purchase such plans!- EricaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-85946496650614805442014-11-02T13:38:10.635-05:002014-11-02T13:38:10.635-05:00I would vote for the short little posts as well. ...I would vote for the short little posts as well. The previous notice about the cancer videos was plenty good enough. That was a very comforting series by the way. I really appreciated the heads-up there.

You'll notice that I have not started blogging yet. I am currently gutting an old farmhouse and planning to re-wire, re-window, re-plumb and re-insulate. Paul Wheaton's presentation is also good and I wouldn't recommend that anyone skip it. I just wanted people to be aware that he throws out a couple of words that civilized people don't normally use in polite conversation.

Hi Pam,
You are very kind. Thank you.
Please note that I have added an update to this blog post, based on a suggestion from David Good. After taking the month of November off, I'm going to try changing my blog format to weekly or twice-weekly blog posts that are much shorter than usual. This will save me a lot of time, and save readers a lot of time too. I think all of us who are self-reliance and homestead-oriented are busy people. So shorter may be the better approach.Herrick Kimballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116051416696885647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13729569.post-36663098960442604402014-10-30T23:21:32.850-04:002014-10-30T23:21:32.850-04:00My dear Mr. Kimball,

In fact, before she would sign on to the project, she insisted she speak to me and make sure I wasn't a hack. Good for her. As for Paul Wheaton, I love what he's done with creating permies.com for gardeners; however, he can be rough when recorded live. I didn't hear his presentation before it was added by the publisher and didn't realize it contained any profanity. For those of us who dislike such things (as I do), you can just skip that disc.
