December Break

I have decided to take leave of blogging here for a season. I need to turn my attention to the task of producing my next book which will be titled, “Anyone Can Build a Whizbang Apple Grinder & Cider Press” (catchy, eh?). Putting a plan book together is relatively easy to do but surprisingly time consuming. So, for the next month, I will be focusing my time, as I can, on this book.

In the meantime, invite you to take a moment and read these two past essays:

"It's A Wonderful Life"—It's a Wonderful Movie

The Most Challenging "It's a Wonderful Live" Trivia Quiz in The World

There is still much that I want to write about and share with you here in the days ahead. Lord willing, I will return January 1, 2009.

Herrick Kimball
The Deliberate Agrarian

P.S. The archives of this blog (over on the right side of the page) are full of my past essays (hundreds of them). I invite you to peruse through.

As long as you're only going to be away for a month...I guess I can handle it :-(

I just might buy your next book, since my hubby loves apple cider and it can be a bit pricey to buy the organic kind.

You have so many interesting links on your sidebar, and I often come to spend time browsing--it's like an online library!

I pray that the Lord will refresh you during your time away, and that it will be productive to the glory of God, amen.

We'll miss you next month, brother. I just discovered your blog about a month ago and have thoroughly enjoyed your thought provoking posts. I've also been enjoying some of your books. Well done!

You will be missed as your blog is one of my favorites. We are very anxiously awaiting the new cider press plan book as we have an old orchard and this fall had to use the veggie juicer to make some cider. It turned out great, we just need more capacity. Enjoy your time off!!

Well, since I'm a fairly new reader of your blog (though we have read your book) I suppose that will give me time to go through the archives. :o)

Blessings on your writings in the new book. This is most definately a time to read articles I may have missed and also in the book I bought from you. A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Herrick . . .As well as your writing, I appreciate your informing us that you are taking a break when you do. Maybe your next book can be about blogging etiquette! You seem to get it :))

Merry Christmas and God bless you brother. I love your post. I am active-duty military and I also hate being a slave to a govt. job. Your post inspires me to plan my own homestead when I retire in four more years. Thank you for your writing.

Hi Herrick! Love your common sense blog!! Read it all the time! Just got my first grain mill (Retsel Mil-rite) on my trip to more self reliant agrarian lifestyle.
Could you check out this web page and offer your common sense opinion? It is about 2 christian young men (no prior record) who are in jail for 26 and 15 years each for corporal punishment on a boy in Texas. Here's the link:

This really upset me, as it seems most criminals get off with a slap on the wrist and this was overly excessive. thanks Herrick and God Bless, Ann

Have you considered developing a whizbang threshing machine? I saw that the Turtle Mt. Hillbilly attempted growing wheat on a small scale but the threshing didn't go too well.
